On today’s episode of a Cat and a Book, I present to you a brown tabby on a colorful blanket. Look at those teeny tiny little paws, those bright blue eyes, that itty bitty stub of a tail, and those ears! Oh, those itty bitty ears.
We all deserve to start our day with a cute animal.
Now, onto the book of the day!
Path of Fate: When a goshawk named Saljane swoops into her life, young healer Reisil discovers she can communicate telepathically with the bird of prey, an undeniable sign that she has been chosen by Lady Amiya, the goddess of Kodu Riik, to become an ahalad-kaaslane—a guardian of the land. At first, Reisil resists accepting her call to service, but when a kidnapping threatens to trigger war, she embarks on a dangerous pursuit of the traitors in order to save two kingdoms.
This was my first introduction to Diana Pharaoh Francis, and Path of Fate (first book of the Path trilogy) still holds its place as one of my favorites. This isn’t all sunshine and roses, though, so expect a lot of twists, turns, and sensitive subject material in this one. Things won’t go as you necessarily want, but I found the ride to be so, so worth it. So, approach with some reader advisories in mind, but this one is an adventure worth going on!
In my opinion, the heartaches are worth it. But seriously, the one book is called Path of Blood for a reason.
I linked to the trilogy, as it’s definitely kinder on your wallet to buy all three at one time. Just do your due diligence and check the sample first. Not every book is every reader’s jam!
I hope you enjoy the read!
